CURRICULUM

Lower Primary (P.1 – P.3)

  • Core Subjects:

    1. Literacy I (English): Basics of reading, writing, and comprehension.

    2. Literacy II (Local Language): Language development and communication skills.

    3. Numeracy (Mathematics): Counting, addition, subtraction, patterns, and problem-solving.

    4. Integrated Science: Observation of the environment, plants, animals, and weather.

    5. Religious Education: Basic religious values and moral teachings.

  • Co-Curricular Activities:

    • Music, dance, and drama.

    • Physical education and basic sports.

    • Creative arts (drawing, painting, and crafts).

  • Learning Outcomes:

    • Develop foundational literacy and numeracy skills.

    • Recognize and respect local culture and environment.

    • Demonstrate basic motor skills and teamwork.

Middle Primary (P.4 – P.5)

  • Core Subjects:

    1. English Language: Grammar, comprehension, and creative writing.

    2. Mathematics: Multiplication, division, fractions, and basic geometry.

    3. Science and Health Education: Human body, hygiene, nutrition, and basic physics concepts.

    4. Social Studies: History, geography, and civic education.

    5. Religious Education: Moral and spiritual development.

  • Co-Curricular Activities:

    • Sports and games (football, netball, etc.).

    • Cultural activities (traditional dances and storytelling).

    • Environmental conservation activities (tree planting, gardening).

  • Learning Outcomes:

    • Apply problem-solving in real-life situations.

    • Understand Uganda’s history, geography, and cultural diversity.

    • Show responsibility for personal health and the environment.

Upper Primary (P.6 – P.7)

  • Core Subjects:

    1. English Language: Advanced comprehension, essay writing, and grammar.

    2. Mathematics: Decimals, percentages, algebra, and advanced geometry.

    3. Science and Technology: Energy, matter, ecosystems, and basic technology use.

    4. Social Studies (SST): African geography, Ugandan history, government systems, and economic activities.

    5. Religious Education: In-depth moral reasoning and spiritual growth.

  • Special Focus Subjects:

    • Entrepreneurship and life skills (basic business concepts and decision-making).

    • Agriculture (practical farming and food production).

    • ICT (basic computer skills and digital literacy).

  • Co-Curricular Activities:

    • Leadership programs (prefects and student clubs).

    • Inter-school competitions in academics, sports, and debates.

    • Community service and outreach programs.

  • Learning Outcomes:

    • Mastery of literacy, numeracy, and scientific concepts for national exams (PLE).

    • Leadership skills and civic responsibility.

    • Basic entrepreneurial and technological competencies.

Assessment Methods

  1. Continuous Assessment: Regular quizzes, homework, and class activities.

  2. End-of-Term Exams: Formal exams to assess academic progress.

  3. National Exams: Preparation for the Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) in P.7.
